Teens Initiating Change tour U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE)

On this past Thursday Teens Initiating Change, we spent this day at U.S Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).  They are known for protecting the security of the American people and homeland by vigilantly enforcing the nation's immigration and customs laws. We met with representatives from Homeland Security Investigations. They investigate all types of cross-border criminal activity, to include: financial crimes, bulk cash smuggling, cybercrimes, exploitation of children and child sex tourism, weapons smuggling and export enforcement, human smuggling and trafficking, transnational gang activity and the list goes on…………  We were able to sit in on several court case and observed both sides.  illegal immigrants were able to plead with the judges to stay in the U.S and others pleaded to be deported back to their homeland. This was truly an eye-opening experience for all of us.

An average day in the life of Enforcement and Removal operations are as follow:

658 Illegal Aliens removed

34,376 Illegal aliens housed in detention facilities nationwide

564 intake medical screenings performed

5 removal flights completed
