Greetings Everyone,
Teens Initiating Change has had a week to remember. On Wednesday
we spent the day with Sheriff Victor Hill, who personally gave us a tour of his
para-military style jail. The youth had
heard of the military style jail, but did not know what it meant. They now know in several counties, the
courthouse can be miles away from the jail, but in our county, you can be
sentenced in one part of the building and without stepping outside locked up in
another part of the building. Sheriff
Hill started with a video of other jails that were out of control. This video
prepared us for the difference we were about to see as we tour his jail.
Sheriff Hill’s mission is for his agency to be the best not
only in the country but in the world. He went on to say this can only be
achieved by thinking outside the box.
